El Guayota

A personal interpretation of how i would imagine el Guayota, the demon or evil god from Guanches legends. Guanches are the original tribes from Canary Islands centuries ago. These ancient legends tells about the Guayota as an evil god trapped inside the volcano Teide, in Tenerife, one of the seven volcanic Canary Island. From time to time, the Teide can´t hold this demon and he breaks out , thats when the leaders of the tribes, named in Guanche´s tonge as Menceys fight against this terrorific creature to send him back to the Teide´s depths.
At the right corner we can see one of the menceys with one of our reliable dogs from Canary Islands (presa canario), told by all those who invaded our islands through history as a beast guardian ( Thats why the name of these islands from the colonizers, CAN / Latin= Dog, the island of dogs)
By the way, proud of being from here, one of the most beautiful places aroud the world ;D !
